At Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries, we’re all about the American classics people know and love, from crispy onion rings to old-time rock n’ roll. Along with our fun, 50s-style atmosphere, our customers enjoy favorites like our famous frozen custard, delicious hot dogs, fresh, never frozen hand-pattied burgers, fabulous fries, mouthwatering cheesesteak sandwiches, delicious hot wings and much, much more.
Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries first opened in Goldsboro, NC in 1991. We started out as Andy’s Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers.
Building on a philosophy of servant leadership, Andy’s has grown and produced over 30 entrepreneurs, most of whom started off as minimum-wage employees.
As we moved away from malls we changed our name from Andy’s Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers to Andy’s Burgers Shakes & Fries. We now have over 100 restaurants and a corporate center based in Mount Olive, NC.
After 20 years of exceptional service and outstanding food, we decided to share our concept with the rest of the world. We are now selling franchises throughout the Southeast.
With every new endeavor there are setbacks. Ours came in our name, of all things. Go figure. Another company already has the federal trademark for “Andy’s”. So, after careful deliberation, and hours of “playing” with different names, we decided on… wait for it… Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries!!!!
So, now we have a name that we can take to other states. Look for us in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and Ohio. Same great service, same great food, and now with a cool new name.
Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries fits a niche between fast food and casual dining, offering the customer the best benefits of both segments. We provide the convenience of fast food, with rapid response times and an affordable menu, but with a twist: our freshly made food is a much tastier alternative to typical pre-cooked hamburgers and french fries.
