Taps is a proudly Davao-based food counter, Its humble beginnings were made possible with the help of the owners’ cousin, the late Jongjong Tionko who owned the empty lot (now Bagobo Hotel) in which the first wooden Taps counter was constructed. On December 8, 1985 the outlet welcomed its first clients – mostly students.
Strategically located along Gov. Duterte St. (formerly Malvar Street), its 25 stools were always occupied during lunch, breakfast and dinner. Owing to its popularity, a second outlet was opened in less than a year along Palma Gil Street, two blocks from the main outlet. Soon after, Taps developed a strong client-base who grew fond of its all-day meal menu.
Taps has since grown into a chain of six food counters in Davao City. Its exceptional growth has inspired the owners to share its success with other like-minded, hardworking entrepreneurs. Taps, Inc. will expand operations by awarding franchises to interested parties, initially in Southern Mindanao and eventually in key cities nationwide.
