F2F Events, Inc. emerged from the ashes of the IT event boom of the 1990’s. During this time IT professionals supported a number of regional tradeshows that were being promoted as local versions of the larger national programs.
After initial success, attendees began to realize that the promised educational benefit of these local shows was not being delivered. Seminar content was often little more than veiled sales presentations, and the exhibit floor was frequently populated by vendors who could afford the entry fee, regardless of their focus. It soon became apparent that these marketing-based tradeshows did little to meet the needs of the IT community.
