Established in September 1998 , European Region of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy was formed through the merger of the Regional organization of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy and the Standing Liaison Committee of Physiotherapists of the EU.
To co-ordinate the efforts and to use the available resources in one joint organization is the prime reason for merger by virtues of which the benefit of the physiotherapy associations and physiotherapy professionals of Europe can be realized. It is a non-governmental non-profit European organization comprising of members from 36 countries. They are not only members of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy but also professional associations of physiotherapists. The aims and objectives of the WCPT Europe were to promote the regional interests of the WCPT and act as the region of the WCPT in all matters.
