Established in 1975, TASH is regulated by the board of directors, network of members, volunteers, committees and chapter organizations. It includes a wide range of members such as researchers, professionals, direct service workers, family members and people with disabilities. Firstly it was known as the American Association for the Education of the severely and Profoundly Handicapped. In 1995, the name was converted into TASH. Each year, TASH Conference brings together the professionals and researchers from all communities and states to discuss the issues. The annual conference creates new possibilities in disability community and expands the knowledge about the various disciplines in the field. It’s main office is situated in Washington, United States of America.
