A new exhibition with decades-long customer relations
Food Processing and Packaging Asia is a brand extension of the highly successful and 15-year old Food ingredients Asia
series (Fi Asia), which is part of the internationally acclaimed Fi Europe, a hallmark of a true B2B exhibition.

What’s different is that Food Processing and Packaging Asia approaches long-time trade visitors on their needs for better
overall plant operations and technology relating to food processing, food science and packaging that address the all
important ingredients of 21st century competitiveness -- food safety (hygiene and sanitation), health (fortified food),
sustainable packaging, convenience and productivity.

More and more, the food processing industry will be put under growing pressure to enforce Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Points (HACCP) system, Good Hygienic Practices (GHP), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and Good
Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and so on.

Why Thailand?
Trade exhibitions thrive on a local market that is alive, and Thailand being the world’s 13th largest food
exporter by 2008 is but a natural choice to host the launch of Food Processing and Packaging Asia.

Also in 2008, Thailand was ranked as the world’s number one food exporter of canned & processed tuna,
canned & processed pineapple, rice, and processed chicken and shrimp that that lifted Thailand’s food export
revenue to $24.2 billion (35.2% over 2007), and representing up to 13.3% of the country’s total export
revenue.

For 2010, the National Food Institute (NFI) expects US$23.9-24.9 billion worth of food export as a result
of the global economic recovery.

The region is endowed with a vast natural resources that underpin its determined drive to become a net
food exporter.
The Philippines aims to export $4 billion worth of food in 2010.
Vietnam’s seafood exports will top $4.7 billion in 2010 (+6.8% over 2009).
Indonesia’s 2010 palm oil exports are expected to surpass the $116.49 billion exports in 2009.
