If you accidentally drop something, quickly find a hiding place such as under the bed, in the closet, or even in the birdcage if you have unlocked it. My experience is to always prepare a "plan B" - for example, set a bear trap in the path to slow Granny down if she is chased. Don't stay in one place for too long, because she can "smell" you!
Collect and use strategic items: The game requires solving puzzles to escape, such as assembling a safety lock or repairing a car. Prioritize finding key items such as winch handles or cutting pliers as soon as possible. A good tip is to use meat to lure spiders in the basement, allowing you to reach hidden items without being attacked. If you are playing on hard, try using a crossbow to temporarily shoot Granny, but remember to only isolate her for a few minutes.
Choose a game mode that suits your level: If you are just starting out, try Practice mode to get used to it without fear of death. When you are more confident, switch to Extreme or Nightmare to increase the challenge.
