The ambiance had to be far from the faceless commercial establishments, that huge multinationals have made standard practice in business. In short, it had to have soul. A simple, non-pretentious place where everyone was more than welcome to just be themselves. It had to be green (environment friendly), hire from the community and practice good business. On march 15, 2003 the store finally opened its doors – the ABABU Persian Kitchen was born.

With huge servings and bottomless drinks at such low prices, many said it wouldn’t work… a month later, ABABU Teachers Village achieved ROI.

On April 6, 2008 the first ABABU franchise opened along Xavierville ave for 1. 2M pesos. It catered to the community and students from UP, Ateneo and Miriam. To our surprise, students all the way from La Salle Taft and UST became regulars along with professionals and yuppies who had graduated and were always welcomed back. 14 months later, ABABU Xavierville achieved ROI.

Today, thanks to my partner, a true friend from my days in UP Diliman – our business continues to grow stronger.
