Orbitz Pearl Shakes is a subsidiary of Metro Grind Corp. founded by a group of young entrepreneurs on July 14, 1999.
The idea to create this fascinating drink began when one young entrepreneur discovered an innovative way of concocting fruit-based shakes with pearls while in Vancouver, Canada. The name was inspired by how the pearls were freely floating in the drink as if they were planets revolving around the solar system. As what laymen would call as “orbit”, spicing it up came about the name Orbitz. His passion, combined with the expertise in Business Management of a colleague, paved the way to what is known now as Orbitz Pearl Shakes.
The first branch was opened in October 29, 1999 at SM Centerpoint, Manila. The success of the brand soon opened its doors for franchising.
At present, Orbitz Pearl Shakes had already opened over 100 branches in major shopping malls and key establishments in and out of the Metro. The company is gearing up to penetrate the international market and further strengthen its presence in the Philippines.
