Mr. Pedro L. Barrios, commonly known as “Pete” started the very first branch in Compostela, Compostela Valley Province in 1993 with the help of a small loan from his father resigning as employee of a Rural Bank. He then took a short course in the basics of baking to improve his technical ability.
Pete with his business acumen, entrepreneurial ability and a positive outlook on the economy, expanded business in different towns mostly in Southern Mindanao Region. He also experienced hard times and closed some branches in the early part but simplicity and frugality in life propelled the sustainability and survival of his business until expan-sions reached Negros and Panay Islands in the year 2008. By 2009, the business grows to 200 branches as it reaches the southern part of Luzon specifically in Batangas area.
Control issues then cropped up starting 2009 until 2011 wherein trimming down of branches was necessary. By the year 2012, the management focuses in improving controls and in trimming down operational expenses.
2013 and onwards offers a brighter scenario as the company will be open for franchise. Products will undergo innovation and improvement as it goes healthy in terms of using different components. Added vitamins and minerals, less sugar and salt will be an icing on bread varieties and triggers an upside impact on its product lines.
Better quality and innovative products, improved business operations, employee’s security and better compensation, profitability and sustainability for company owned and franchised businesses and better community service involvement will be the priority of the company in the coming days.
