Today, both Syed Restaurant and Syed Bistro cater to an extensive range of classes and ethnic groups in Malaysia craving to savor the best in local and Western cuisine, in the ambience of a relaxed tropical setting.
Syed Restaurant has a long and glorious history that spans four prosperous generations. Conceived in the early 1900s by the noble Mr. Syed Kadir, a trustworthy migrant from India, it has since grown to become a household name, cherished and respected all over Malaysia.
The first ever Syed restaurant opened for business in Penang, the food-haven of Malaysia, where it thrived and prospered for three generations. The third generation of Syed’s then took the bold initiative of venturing out and setting up shop in Kuala Lumpur, the cosmopolitan capital of Malaysia. The year 1968 marked the birth of Kuala Lumpur’s first Syed Restaurant, in the bustling commercial hub of Klang Valley.
There was no stopping the explosive growth of Syed restaurants. Kuala Lumpur’s second Syed Restaurant was born in 1981, in the idyllic suburban city of Shah Alam. In the same year, as part of its diversification and expansion program, the company also set up a dedicated Catering Division to cater to the growing demand for catering services by institutions and households.1985 marked the emergence of yet another Syed Restaurant in the satellite township of Petaling Jaya. In the two decades since, eight more Syed Restaurants have been set up all across the length and breadth of the Klang Valley.
