The HABIB group has over the years spread its wings into several ventures to solidify its name in the world of business. Brand names affiliated under the HABIB umbrella to date include jewellery brand Chantique, the Islamic pawnbroking arm Time Zone Ar Rahnu, and the HABIB Hotel, the group's first venture out of the jewellery industry
Habib Jewels was first established as M.A. Habib Mohamed, in the year 1958, by its founder Datuk Haji Habib Mohamed Abdul Latif. Its first shop was located on Penang’s Pitt Street, also popularly known as the island’s “Jewellers’ Corner”. It is still there today as HABIB’s Pioneer Showroom.
Under the helm of the founder’s son, Dato’ Meer Sadik Habib, the company evolved from a humble family concern to become Habib Corporation Berhad. It became Malaysia’s first listed jeweller in 1998.
The Company’s subsidiary Habib Jewels Franchise Sdn. Bhd. has obtained the necessary approval for its brand ‘Habib Jewels’ as a registered Local Franchisor (6A) effectively on May 12, 2000. Todate, it has 29 outlets.
