James Wichert, owner and president of Discount Party Stores, Inc. started in the industry in 1992 when he opened the first dollar store in Las Vegas. Shortly thereafter, he began to receive inquiries from customers and tourists about assisting them in opening stores throughout the United States. This became the beginning of the store development operations. The store development business has steadily grown and Dollar Store Services was incorporated in 1995. Since he started in the dollar store business, Mr. Wichert has assisted over 1,500 individuals open stores throughout the United States and worldwide. Recently, Dollar Store Services Inc. has opened Canadian and Latin American based operations.
Today, the company continues to grow at a fast pace. Current plans are to open over 200 Discount Stores annually throughout North America and this feat requires dedication and knowledge by all involved. Wichert is very pleased that the storeowners are able to rely on his staff of experienced professionals. "The staff's superior dedication is at the heart of the company's success," states Wichert. Wichert also owns a large wholesale company, which supplies over 18,000 products to its customers. The key feature of the wholesale company is that every product made available to our network of stores has been hand selected. According to Wichert, "Buying product through the Internet or from catalogs is the same as buying sight unseen. How can anyone possibly negotiate the correct price of a product without seeing and touching it to determine both quality and product value?"

Our merchandise is provided through a vast network of suppliers. We see each of our suppliers on a regular basis where we inspect new party store merchandise to assure high value and quality, and to review hot, new merchandise. Then, we negotiate rock-bottom prices on behalf of our network.
Training is designed to ensure that each new owner is familiar with the many aspects of managing their store. This experience begins before and continues well after the store’s opening. Your trainer will be in contact with you both before and after the store has opened. This training will include a full review of a comprehensive operations manual and related materials designed to aid you in operating your store on a day-to-day basis. Both classroom and onsite training are available, and encouraged, prior to the opening of the store.
